IAs part of the “Digital Design” module at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, the redesign of Building G was developed as a design assignment. The objective was to create a representative building that meets the functional and aesthetic demands of a modern university infrastructure. Central to the concept was the planning of a robotics hall, envisioned as a key facility for research and teaching, giving the building a distinctly technical orientation.
The existing structure of the building was not entirely discarded, but selectively preserved. In particular, the original spatial layout was retained in certain areas and thoughtfully adapted to establish a connection between the existing fabric and new requirements. The resulting design respectfully engages with the existing structure while introducing new spatial qualities.
A defining architectural feature is the proposed glass façade, which lends the building an open and transparent character. This is complemented by a green façade that not only adds visual accents but also offers functional benefits such as shading and microclimate improvement. Together, these elements help position the building as a modern, forward-looking space for learning and research.
